vaccinations

Dear Students,

I would strongly advice you to get up to date on your vaccinations before travel, and not to leave this for the last minute. For the Center for Disease Control's advice on vaccinations for Jordan, see:

http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/jordan.aspx

For JMU's Immunization office and fees, see:

All Best,

Housing Update

Dear Students,

We have negotiated 2 large furnished apartments for our program. They are near the language school, and reports are that they are pretty nice. For the women's apartment, each woman will have a single room. For the men's apartment, there might be the choice of single room, or sharing a room. I *might* be in a position to offer a small discount to those who agree to share a room.

You are required to be in Amman, ready for the program, at 8:00am, June 20.
The apartments will be available from June 15 through July 25. You do not need to be in 'Amman until June 20, but, in order to give you some flexibility on your flights, and the opportunity to "settle in", I'm giving you the option to come a few days early. The first two days in Amman will be orientation, testing, etc., so if you want to wait until June 19th, you will have a day or two to get your bearings.

Don't forget that this program provides housing, instruction, and two trips, but not food. You will have functional kitchens, and there are plenty of "cheap eats" around the school for lunch where students from the school generally eat. If you *never* cook and plan to eat full restaurant meals, I would budget 18-20 dollars a day, minimum. If you cook breakfast and dinner, and just have lunch out, you can bring this down to 5-7 dollars a day.

All Best,
David Hollenberg
